VINTAGE MEXICAN SILVER PAJARITOS NECKLACE & EARRINGS Exquisitely Detailed ~ Marked ~ Masterfully Crafted WISHING YOU AND YOURS A WONDERFUL FALL AND A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! DESCRIPTION: This is a SPECTACULAR sterling silver necklace and earring set that was hand wrought in Mexico, circa 1960's ~ it is exquisitely detailed! This set is masterfully crafted in a unique and artistic organic motif that consists of pajaritos (little birds) and intricate floral and foliate designs. This "pajarito" style jewelry is typical of Guanajuato (the capital city of the State of Guanajuato) in the central highlands of Mexico. Guanajuato was one of the first areas of Mexico colonized by the Spanish, in the 1520's, for its rich silver deposits. The necklace consists of a sterling silver pajarito pendant ~ the center has a sweet little bird with coral art glass eye, sitting on a nest that has two glass "pearl" eggs ~ the bird and nest are surrounded with complex foliate and floral designs ~ the flowers are accented with turquoise art glass centers. There are three silver pendant dangles. The locking pin clasp on the back works as it should (you turn the locking tab and pull out the end to release the pin). I'm including a vintage sterling silver chain to wear with the pendant. The matching pajarito earrings are made in the same amazing and elaborate design as the pendant ~ they have sterling shepherd hooks which lock into place. The recesses of the design are oxidized which lends depth and dimension. This demi-parure is extremely well made in a feminine and classic design that has a Victorian look ~ they are miniature works of art and would be a grand asset to any vintage Mexican silver collection! SIZE : Pendant: Length with bale and dangles is 2", width is 1", and weight is 7.3 grams. Earrings: Length with shepherd hook and dangles is 1-1/4", width is 5/8", and weight is 4.3 grams. Necklace: Inside circumference when closed is 15-1/4", width is 1/8", and weight is 4.8 grams. Total weight of set is 16.5 grams. CONDITION : Excellent vintage condition ~ no dents or dings to the silver ~ no chips, cracks or damage to coral or turquoise art glass ~ minor surface scratches to silver due to normal wear and age (and actually desirable on vintage jewelry!) ~ no damage noted ~ just about PERFECT used condition!
