This incredible vintage cuff bracelet in constructed from the tiniest colorful pieces of micro-mosaic I have ever seen -- it's intricate beauty is breathtaking -- even with several minor flaws and missing pieces, it retains an incredible character and a certain storybook charm. The very detailed raised filigree and gilt luster of the bracelet body has no hallmarks I can discover, except I found the very smallest initials 'FB' stamped in the inside - both the hinge and cuff closure pin are fully functional and secure -- the interior closed size of the bracelet measures a generous 7.25 inches, fitting on my larger sized wrist comfortably and with movement. The width of the bracelet measures one and one eighth inch. The amazing micro-mosaic motifs are many -- on one side there is a sublime miniature European fresco ... there are Italian ruins set on a hillside, swans floating on a pond, cattails and trees, a long-billed Whooping Crane or Snowy White Egret fishing amidst water lilies all finely set on a cobalt blue mosaic background. On the other side there seems to be a minutely constructed Cleopatra or perhaps a different Royal Egyptian God encircled by twining vines, birds and various multi-colored blossoms on a Cameo Cream mosaic background. In all my many years and extensive travel I have never seen another like it -- unique, timeless & beautiful! It's Tuesday afternoon, March 22. I have just returned from a local shop - Peninsula Gem and Jewelry of Monterey, CA ... upon the request from an interested eBay member that I take this bracelet into a reputable jeweler to have it tested and weighed for gold content. Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather! While having it tested I was told that this micro-mosaic bracelet is made from solid 18 karat gold and that most of it is not just 18 karat but a " high-karat gold" -- most likely it is 19 or 20 karat gold. The total weight of the piece is 75.7 grams. I was told that the micro-mosaic or 'tesserae' tile embellishments most likely would not weigh over 5.7 grams, so it the actual Gold weight of the bracelet is 70 grams ! The jeweler offered to purchase the bracelet from me for it's substantial gold value - but honestly, I would never forgive myself selling it for scrap! I have had a massive amount of interest so far in this micro-mosaic artform -- so I am decidedly going to be leaving it up to the eBay auction place to set a final value!
