This week we are offering an Exceptional Group of HUGE Antique Italian Silver Ex-votos! As you probably already know, we are great admirers of these fabulous Church Offerings. As we travel around Italy and visit some of the most important and beautiful Churches in the world, we often discover the walls of the side altars covered from floor to ceiling with these exquisite Ex-Voto offerings. The Ex-Voto is offered to God or a Saint as a form of prayer or wish.... most often as thanks for an answered prayer. The tradition of a votive offering has been around for Centuries. These are the largest Ex-Votos we've ever been able to present to you on Ebay. We have two spectacular Flaming Heart Ex-Votos, the first measures 20" (52 cm) and the other is 15" (38.5 cm), t is Ex-Voto of a Madonna and Child, plus a Leg and two heart Ex-Votos - one of which is hollow and a prayer can be placed inside! IN THIS AUCTION we are delighted to offer you this extraordinary Antique Italian Silver Ex-Voto of a Madonna and Child. These pieces - called in Italy "Culla" (which means "Cradle") - were often given as gifts for a Newborn baby or Baptism. They were hung either in the Baby's room or on the Cradle. The Ex-voto is in a unique and striking square.

The center of the plaque is exquisitely worked with lovely details. For instance, the subtle rays emanating from Mary's glowing halo, or the delicate folds of Her gown and mantle, and especially noteworthy, the detail of Her hand holding the Sacred Heart. Surrounding the rectangular tableau of the Madonna and Child are a parade of winged Cherubs and floral designs. We have not attempted to clean or polish this piece; we offer it to you as we found it with its original antique patina. It measures 8 ¾ inches square (22 cm). This piece will be a highlight to your collection of Ex-Voto religious offerings.
