Verylow starting price for a work of this quality. No reserve. This spectacular chi wara pair - the finest I have ever seen on Ebay or in a gallery. The beauty is breathtaking, as you can see in the photos but it is hard it imagine how large they are. I am 6' and the male's horns come to my armpit. The shapes are in perfect harmony. The symmetry, quality of workmanship are gorgeous. The application of brass and tin is extravagant and beautifully done (and intact). Either one is a masterpiece but to find a matched set (they are danced as a pair) still together is rare. If you already have a pair, sell them - these are better. Provenance: This pair was purchased at an estate sale. No other information was available. I am only an avid collector but I feel that the pair is at least 30 years old. The horns show some very minor insect damage that does not detract or make any structural damage but does indicate age and exposure to the elements. On of the spines of the male has been nailed back in place - this looks like an old and well done indigenous repair. T are dings, nicks and scratches that separate these from chi waras you sometimes see that are in such pristine condition that they can only have been made for tourists.
