This is an original drypoint etching by French master of the "Belle Epoch", Paul Cesar Helleu (1859-1927) This pencil signed image of a young woman practicing her violin is extremely rare, written in pencil in the lower right is "one of two proofs taken" poorly translated by us, on the bottom edge of the sheet is written, "Two Proofs only, plate destroyed". This image is very richly printed on a laid type paper, borders well over 3 1/2 inches wide all around, a few minor bits of light soiling at the extreme edges of the border but not near the image. The image itself measures 13 1/2X5 3/8 inches. This drypoint has no tears or stains, is not glued down, and is being sold matted not framed. A beautiful and important image by this well known French artist. We also have an early label from an art gallery that identifies and describes this fine image. We absolutely guarantee that this is a genuine hand signed Helleu and not a reproduction or book plate. Buyer pays shipping. We are: NewEngland Art Exchange, dealers in fine prints and paintings.
