THIS AUCTION IS FOR AN EXTREMELY RARE! ALADDIN 70th ANNIVERSARY LAMP LIMITED EDITION DATED 1908-1978 FROSTED WHITE w/HAND PAINTED SHADE What a RARE find!!! After searching eBay and the internet for several day, I was unsuccessful in finding any information or another lamp like this, so I went to the source...Aladdin Lamp Company. This is what I found out: Nineteen Seventy-Eight (1978) was the 70th Anniversary of the Aladdin Lamp Company. To commemorate this anniversary, Aladdin came out the a Special Lamp and this is what I have up for auction! I individual I spoke with believed it was limited to 500 of these made, but he wasn't for sure, but t were not a lot made. Now, not being a expert on lamps, I will tell you what I know. The lamp has a glass bowl and shade. Both are a frosted white. The shade is hand painted on the underneath side with a scenic with trees and shrubbery, in browns and yellow/golds. It measures 10" in diameter across the bottom. On the front of the bowl, t is a raised circle with 1908 - 1978 and an Aladdin "Genie" styled lamp. Beside this, I found no other markings. It has a tall unmarked chimney. It has a nickel electric burner and a nickel tripod. Now, I failed to find out if this is how it came or if it has been converted, but it has NOT been drilled and could be change to an oil lamp with the proper burner. The only thing I could find, was a couple of very small marks on the bowl w it looks like metal rubbed it slightly. This is so minor, that I could not photograph it, but wanted to mention. Besides that, everything else appears to be in very good condition...No Chips, Cracks or Repairs. This is a Fantastic Lamp... DON'T MISS OUT!!! Because a the Rare & Fragile nature of this item, I may have a professional shipper, pack this for me...for your safety. I will be check on this and will add to my description in a few days. But I promise I will only charge actual cost of packing and shipping...I do not believe on making money on the shipping!!! Please check out my pictures and ask questions, before you bid. Shipping: As promised, I have taken this to an UPS Store to get a quote on the packing and shipping of this special lamp. Of course, without actually packing it up and knowing the zip code, this is just an approximate rate. They told me, depending on w it is going, it could be between $60 to $80 total. I realize that this seems high, but considering the fragile nature of this and the size it will end up being, I can understand. Once this sells and is actually packed and I know the zip code, I will email the winner of the actual cost. I will do everything within my power to get you the best prices and will check a few more places to see if I can get a better rate. And again, I will only charge the actual cost!!!
