Stunning Walnut Case Shelf Clock made by F. Kroeber of NY. This piece is in very good condition. There are no chips, cracks. There are only the following discrepancies: it appears that a finial (cherub) on both the lower right and left side is missing, as well as finials on each side of the dial. The clock seems to want to work, but only runs for a few minutes. This will probably require just a minor adjustment. It has a beautiful brass pendulum and brass applied ornamentations on top and bottom front. The glass is free of any chips or cracks, only minor black spots. Marked on the inside back of the case as shown. There was a label on the back of the clock but not anymore, this probably indicated that it was an 8 day clock. I dont' know who the maker of the clockworks is, most likely Sessions. The original key is missing, but I have a replacement key. It's a gorgeous piece! A little about the maker: Florenz Friederick Martin Kroeber was born in 1840 in the city of Paderborn, Westphalia, Germany. His early years were spent in the city of Cologne, but his parents brought their family to America about the spring of 1850, settling in New York City.
