F-1B Release, Parachute Rip Cord, Automatic, class 4,...... Used by USAF!!!!!! Release also has the following on the name plate: Winding Instructions, Insert arming pin, lift timer knob and set at 1 second. Wind fully with force(internal stop prevents overwinding), Lift timer knob before and while extending power cable,... set time. Also on the name plate: Sec Mil-R-25565A. Contract NO AF-10046. US Gauge, Sellersville PA. Mfgs PN PR-2C. Stock number . US Property.I don't know when this was manufactured, could be Viet Nam era, earlier or later. I acquired it in the 1980s. I bought this, used, from an overhaul shop. I believe it can be overhauled but I am selling this for parachute and military timer collectors ONLY,............. NOT FOR FLIGHT. Unit is black box with two wheels. One is marked: Timer Settings in seconds and is 0-13 seconds. The other wheel is Altitude setting, feet x 1000. Marks 5-20, I guess thats 5,000 to 20,000 feet. The Loadmaster on board the cargo aircraft set these units to time and altitude. Attached the cable to the parachute ripcord. You wind up the spring and arm it. When you go above the altitude, you push out the load,.... the release spring yanks the rip cord at the designated time/altitude and the load parachutes to earth.........Our tax dollars at work. Probably cost us hundreds of dollars to manufacture. read more
