I bought an exquisite medium blue length of silk Indian Sari fabric at an antique show over 25 years ago. I later found a French seamstress who made me the ruched bonnet from a small part of the fabric. The bonnet is made over a wire frame and can be layed flat for storage, or "shaped" to head of an Antique bisque head doll measuring about 18" - 22" or 23" tall. I had intended to dress a French Jumeau or Steiner bisque head doll, but never got the dress made. This auction is for the blue silk BONNET and as a BONUS i'm including the 44" x 136" length of additional / matching SILK SARI material! (Doll "modeling" bonnet not included.) In auction photo bonnet is shown on an 18" bisque head doll and some of the extra fabric is draped over her shoulder. This fabric has just the lightest fading .....which makes it even more suitable for creating an ANTIQUE LOOK costume for your favorite high quality doll! One end of the fabric has a DEEP gold thread design panel. Other end has single gold thread stripes .........I thought that section of the material would make nice SLEEVES or possibly front panel for the doll costume. I've treasured and hung onto this fabric for soooo many years..........my loss, is your gain. I hope a talented seamstress / doll collector will enjoy finally making it into a costume...!!!
