This item is a gorgeous bejeweled, satin-lined music box made from a genuine goose egg. It was purchased from the San Francisco Music Box company over 15 years ago and has been displayed in a cabinet - however it could easily be used day to day for holding special trinkets or items of jewelry. The surface of the egg is finished in a delicate pale pink. It stands on a square goldtone filligree base with ball feet. The egg is positioned horizontally, and split and hinged to open halfway up. When the egg is open the top is held in place by a delicate gold chain. The top half of this egg features a pair of beautiful cutout hinged butterfly wings, which can be positioned to appear as if the butterfly is taking flight, or perched on top of the egg. The surface of the wings features a delicate floral pattern overlaid with clear sparkles. The edges of the wings are trimmed with a row of petite iridescent flat backed jewels and edged by a tiny gold braid. The edges of the cutout spaces on the top of the egg are trimmed to match. The bottom interior of the egg is trimmed in a lush pale pink satin which to match the shade of the egg, edged all around by a vine-like pink coiled cord with tiny pale green leaves.
