For your consideration, is a 19c Chinese carved ivory calling card case done in very deep relief. This fabulous card case was produced around c1850 in Canton, China for export to the West. This particular case has been carved by a Cantonese master carver with great skills choosing a wonderful context matter. T are many figures performing various tasks of both work and leisure. Amoungst the numerous figures are prunus, dogwood and wiilow trees as well as a variety of flowers and plants which are notably done on both the top and bottom sections with superb flower heads on the outside corners. Fences, railings, tables and garden seats make up some of the context nature also including a wonderful junk below a full weeping willow showing even the tree knots. T are also figures peering out of the vast variety of Chinese architecture, all being done in very deep relief with back carving giving it a 3d effect. This case is in perfect condition with no faults whatsoever, only a very light tan hue on a few leaves and figures to one side at the top surface. H 3-3/4" x W 2-1/4" x D 5/8". This is a top quality mid 19c Chinese export item in investment quality condition and getting more and more difficult to find. So bid with confidence and good luck.
