Fabulous American Brilliant Cut Glass 10" Cheese Dome Description - This is a wonderful American Brilliant Cut Glass 10" Cheese Dome. I don't know the pattern, however the cutting is intricate and finely done. The underplate has an eighteen point center hobstar, surrounded by 6 sixteen point hobstars. Note the way the teeth are cut around the outer rim to emphasize the six distinct sections of the underplate. The dome also features a 6 sectioned pattern, each highlighted by sixteen point hobstars. This is definitely the same pattern top and underplate. Size - The dome and underplate together stand a little over 7" tall. The underplate is 10" in diameter by about 1 3/8" deep. The dome is 6 1/2" tall and 6 7/8" in diameter. The walls of the dome are 1/4" thick. Total weight is about 6.75 pounds and I estimate 12 pounds very safely packed weight for shipping. Condition - This entire piece is in generally excellent condition. The glass on both pieces is bright and crystal clear. The glass is in great condition, especially considering that it is a heavy covered piece. However, the dome has a couple of small nicks on the inside edge and one flat flake on the outside edge that measures about 3/8" in diameter. The underplate has a few very minor teeth nicks and one large flat flake beneath one of the sets of protruding teeth. This flake measures about 5/8" by 5/8". Also, t is a secondary flake on this same set of teeth that extends across the outer edge of the outermost tooth. The last 2 photos show a bottom view and then a top view of this minor damage. As you can see, this is really only noticeable with careful inspection. The surface of the underplate appears pristine, with no obvious signs of wear. Marks - Unmarked.
