For auction a fabulous old majolica tray that measures 13 1⁄2âe long by 8 1⁄4âe wide and stands about 1 1⁄2âe tall at the outer rim (giving it about 1âe inside depth). Green, turquoise, gold and pink banana leaves are at the center of this old beauty and sit upon a pale golden-yellow basket weave background. The outer turquoise rim is very nicely embossed and sports banana leaves that cascade from the âeoehandleâe ends. It does have some discolorationâe¦primarily at one corner of the basket weave; and of course, has the crazing weâe(tm)ve come to expect on these old dears. And, although 3 corners do have chips (which, to me, do not compromise its beauty in the least), it remains an extremely desirable piece with awesome colors and a clean crisp mold.Some may wonder if the spot on the top of the handle is a chip (see close-up photo). Absolutely NOT. The paint was skipped at that spot, but it is nicely glazed over with the original finish,; and all remaining paint and glaze is in beautiful condition.
