Uhrenfabrik Villingen, Baden,Schwarzwald, Germany Also ”Regulator-fabrik” and Werner-Werke” Founded in 1870 by Carl Werner, later run by his sons Carl jr. and Hermann. Speciality: Taximeters, continued production by Kienzle. Trademark “KONKURRENZ” Werner C. Uhrenfabrik (Clockfactory) Germany Enterprise operated under the name of Reguklator-Fabrik and under Werner-Werke (Werner-WorksYhe founder Carl Werner 1832 ,1890 operated his company with 250 employees from the year 1870 till 1904? After the death of Carl Werner, his son's Carl Jr. and Hermann, already in the company, with dynamic management skills, the enterprise was able to expand exports in Europe. The most outstanding achievement of the Werner sons was the design and construction of a TAXIMETER for horse carriages. with the automible, the Werner enterprise was the leading manufacture of taximeters. The Kienzle-enterprise continued with the taximeter, based on the Werner inventions VERNA, tradmark. Carl Werner wurde 1832 geboren und stammte aus Dunningen bei Rottweil. Er erlernte den Beruf eines Schmiedegesellen und heiratete 1861 eine Tochter des Unternehmers Nock, der in Villingen eine Uhrenpackerei, Eisen- und Kolonialwarenhandlung betrieb. Auf sein Anraten hin begann man mit der Fertigung von Schwarzwälder Uhren. 1870 wurde die Uhrenfabrik Carl Werner gegründet. Schon nach kurzer Zeit wurde die Produktionsstätte in ein Gebäude in der Schulgasse verlegt. Das Gebäude wurde mehrfach durch Anbauten erweitert, ab 1884 trieb eine Dampfmaschine die Produktionsanlagen an. Auch die Uhren erhielten erhielten einen neuen Aufzug: Sie wurden durch Federzugwerke angetrieben. Mit Uhren dieser Antriebsvariante beteiligte sich Carl Werner 1876 an der Gewerbeausstellung Villingen. Zu dieser Zeit beschäftigte die Firma bereits 24 Fabrikarbeiter und 16 Heimarbeiter.
