SELLING FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM - INTERNATIONAL BUYERS WELCOME. ***This is such a delightful and charming Art Deco powder compact. It's small, slim, made by Girey from chrome, cream kid leather and brown snakeskin and features the embossed silhouettes of a lady and gentlemen dressed in 18th century french high fashion wearing the most wonderful hairstyles and high heeled shoes!*** The powder compact has a shiny chrome casing, tiered in typical Art Deco fashion at the top and bottom ends. The lid is cream kid leather embossed with black silhouettes and inset into a chrome frame. The back and sides of the compact are covered in dark brown snakeskin. On the right-hand side of the bottom of the lid is a little push-in button which allows the lid, which is on a spring hinge, to pop open. The interior has a bevelled mirror set within a metal frame and two compartments, the smaller for rouge and the larger for compressed powder. The compartments are separated by a metal strip which is signed 'By Girey'. Both puffs are present. Because of the use of kid leather and snakeskin I would say that this was probably quite an expensive item when new. Condition: T is a little surface scratching to the cream leather but the silhouettes are in good condition with just a small amount of wear to the ground on the right-hand side underneath the gentleman'
