Fabulous French POWDER FLASK with FOX, P.F.D.F a PARIS Offered for sale here at eBay: this magnificent French Powder Flask with much character and rare motif. First: this flask is depicted in Riling`s Powder Flask book as flask 1031. Riling says: "Flask figures 1031 and 1032 show variant examples of flasks with a picture motif of a fox caught in a trap". "1031 is a copper flask with common top marked P.F.D.F.". The motif is very decorative but somewhat sad for the fox who is trapped for over 170 years. The marking is in a band below the decoration near the neck. It reads: P.F.D.F. PARIS. When I studied the signature I noticed that the letter "D" was mirrored (curious detail). This flask has 2 rings on the sides for suspension loops. The overall length included charger is 180 mm and the max. width is 80 mm. Condition: this flask has lots of original dark brown laquered finish which gives it extra appeal. There are some minor dents and a seam split on the bottom seam. Side seams are in good condition. This can be repaired without a problem. Powderflaskhunter does not restore or repair flasks and I will leave it to the new owner. The charging unit is complete but has a broken spring. The spout has a 4 step graduated scale which is marked: 55 - 60 - 65 - 70. Well...that`s all folks! Good luck bidding! This is a NO RESERVE auction! read more
