This is a Fabulous Georgian Novelty Masquerade Ball Rat Ring Circa 1770’s. The ring consists of a Rat that is mounted on a plain gold band that spins round the ring. The Rat is attached to the band via two pieces of wire underneath it as well as its tail. The eyes of the rat have been set with two rose cut diamonds. The dimensions of the rat are 11mm by 16mm by 6mm tall. The ring is currently sized a British L / USA 5¾. The ring test as 15ct yellow gold and weighs 4.4g. This is a truly special ring that gets everybody’s attention when worn and you can just imagine the reaction it would have got when worn to a Masquerade Ball.
