Fabulous Group of 5 French Musicians Medals Group of Five French Musicians Medals Officially Awarded by The French Government and Confederation Musicale de France An interesting and quite scarce group of five medals officially awarded by the French Government and the Confederation Musicale de France for long service. They are full size medals, complete with original ribbons and are in excellent condition. The medal on the left "Medaille d'Honneur des Societes Musicales et Choralesis a desirable and original bronze medal measuring 32mm in diameter and in very fine condition. It is complete with original ribbon. The obverse represents the ancient Greek poet & musician "Terpandre"playing a 7 string lyre. The medal is awarded by the French government for 20 years service in a choral or musical society. It was instituted in 1924. This is an early type being of good quality bronze. The medal was designed by J.Vatinelle. It is officially impressed with the word "bronze" on the rim with mintmark. The second medal on the left is in bronze and is in the shape of a lyre. It was awarded for twenty years devoted service to the confederation Musical de France. The centre medal is the same as the second left medal but is of silver gilt construction.
