IN THIS AUCTION we are offering a stunning Reliquary and Hand Painted Porcelain of Saint Vincent de Paul. Beautifully shaped like a Gothic Church Window, the gilded frame is decorated with a Maltese Cross at its top, a wonderful detailed frame border and three decorative Silver adornments with the Fleur-de-lis in each corner. An exquisitely rendered hand painted portrait has wonderful depth and detail. The relic rests on a silver metallic fabric and is surrounded by a gold spiral. T is an easel for standing on an altar or table. The Wax Seal and threads are intact. Measuring 4 5/8 inches (12 cm) including the Cross by 2 ½ inches (6 cm) wide. From our Research we paraphrase: SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL was born in 1581 to a peasant family. A highly intelligent youth, he was educated by the Franciscan friars. He was ordained at age 20. Taken captive by Turkish pirates to Tunis, and sold into slavery. He was freed in 1607 when he converted one of his owners to Christianity. He returned to France and served as a parish priest near Paris w he started organizations to help the poor and unemployed, and nurse the sick. He was the Chaplain at the court of Henry IV of France and together with Louise de Marillac founded the congregation of the Daughters of Charity. He instituted the Congregation of Priests of the Mission (Lazarists). He died in 1660 in Paris, his body is incorrupt. He was Canonized in 1737 by Pope Clement XII. He is the Patron Saint (among others) for Charitable Societies and Workers, Hospitals and the diocese of Richmond Virginia. This item is allowed as it contains no human remains.
