This auction is for a Face Jug (Spirit Jug, Ugly Jug) hand thrown, sculpted and fired three times by Randy Tobias. Randy fired this jug a third time to add the low fire red glaze to the snake.The jug is 8 inches tall and 6 inches from ear to ear. The condition is great. No chips. No cracks. Very nice piece of NC Folk Art. The color is the natural red clay with a clear glaze. The snake looks dark in the picture, but is a bright china red. Broken china teeth and china clay eyes. Randy's snakes usually look happy like Far Side Cartoons, but this one looks like road kill. The additional red glaze must have combined with the clear and dripped down the jug.
