This beautiful antique steintankard is damaged. Its handle has been reattached and t isa chip on it. T is a crack running down the side which ends at the bottom decorative band. T are tiny nicks and flakes around the top and bottom edges. This faience stein is beautifully decorated with buildings that appear medieval, and florals, and allover sponge or spatter application. Without the lid, it measures 7 1/4" tall. The lid is engraved A E ST or SF and below that F-G-S or T-G-S. The lid always looked too small for the stein and as you can see, is completely broken off, so I thought it might be a replacement, but I did find an eighteenth century stein that had a metal ring around the top of the stein w this one is indented and the design of the pewter lid was like this one. T is some solder repair to the rim's edge and t is a small split on the rim w it bends to form the flared edge. I hope from the style you can determine which European country made this early faience pottery tankard and when. Buyer pays actual priority shipping and confirmation for 4 lbs from 93402 to your zip, checks and money orders only, 7.25% to Calif buyer, insurance extra and optional. Thank you..
