This distance will vary in your size, as some are made for big shoulders and some are for smaller shoulders. If it's cut for big shoulders and you have small shoulders, this seam will droop over your shoulder and down your arm, making the shirt appear too large.The lengths vary and don't matter too much unless you are tall and the shirt is too short, or in case you are short and don't want all that extra material stuffed in your pants.
