This is the Official Program for the Teatro Colon, or Theater Columbus in Buenos Aires and is coupled with a real photo postcard of the theater - both in 1931. This is one of the world's most illustrious venues of our time. First built in 1854, some of the greatest singers in the world of Opera and Drama from around the world would come to perform within its grand confines. Atwater Kent even advertised in this program along with may other illustrious names and companys. This program is filled with 28 pages of amazing talent. T is some minor damage to the front cover in the form of creases- the back of it hasglue marks as if it were in a scrapbook at one time - the inside is in great condition - the postcard also has light glue marks but the card is in pristine shape with tears, creases or scuffs. The following is a history of the theater from the official site for this still existing, magnificent structure. "The taste by that supreme invention of the delayed Renaissance, had reached in Buenos Aires by the end of an Eight hundred overwhelming height, to the point of which seven theaters competed in quality of supply. But the unexpected closing of the Theater Columbus of the Seat of the Victories had been in the spirit of the society like an open wound that did not manage to mitigate the fascinating activity that was developed in the other theaters and that did of distant Buenos Aires one of the remarkable líricos centers of the entire world. The prosperity of this capital fed the hopes on people and the own government, that did not make deaf ears to that outcry. By the others, the project to construct a theater that replaced primitive Columbus had been debate matter before the building of this last one outside destined to the banking activities. At that time the terrains that the station occupied Park of the Railroad the West (and in which really the new theater rose) already were in the sight of the Deliberative Council of the city. He himself year of the closing of the Theater of the Seat of the Victories, the 20 of October of 1888, was sanctioned the law that took number 2381, by which was called to public licitation to construct the new theater. The intention of the authorities was to inaugurate new Columbus before the 12 of October of 1892; but, as we know, it was not but an ingenuous expression of desires, then, although the works began in 1889, from the date in which the law was dictated and the inauguration of the new theater passed twenty years. Budgetary, technical, political, merely bureaucratic difficulties and others of diverse sort were tieing in that prolonged lapse. Finally, the work gave to beginning according to the project of the architect Francisco Tamburini, whose unexpected death entered scene closest collaborating his and colleague Victor Meano, that was to introduce some modifications in the original project, that already had been studied by its author. Talking about to the architecture of the new theater, Meano defined it in this way: "This sort which we did not call manierado style by too much, wanted to have the characters of the Italian Renaissance, alternated with the distribution and solidity of detail of the German architecture and the grace, own variety and gallantry of the French architecture". In this direction the work was being made until 1904, year in which another unlucky event enlutó the theater in blossoming: the death of Meano architect, under whose direction the work advanced firmly after the last stages.
