PAIR of ITALIAN MAJOLICA MEDALLION VASES This vintage pair of double handled medallion urn vases is a fabulous example of Italian majolica pottery that comes to us recently from a local estate. Made by Fratelli Fanciullacci circa 1900, and measuring 6” tall, the pair is hand painted in shades of cobalt blue, burgundy red, forest green, and mustard yellow. The pattern on the pieces was incised into the pottery prior to painting and glazing. One depicts an Italian warrior surrounded by leaves in an oval frame. The other portrays a male figure in a circular frame. Both vases have similar decorative designs on the back sides. Both pieces are marked FF Made in Italy on the underside; one is marked D885 and the other is incised D889. Both pieces are in excellent condition for their age. As pictured, there are a couple of chips on the warrior vase and one on the one other vase. These flaws in no way detract from their aesthetic or collectible value and they would be a wonderful addition to any pottery collection.
