FANCY ENGRAVED STERLING SILVER CIGARETTE CASE Presented is a fantastic 950 purity silver cigarette case. The outside of the case is completely covered with gorgeous and engraving in a fancy design of scrolls. Both sides of the case are fitted with a band of silver links to hold the cigarettes in place. This is a much better quality and heavier case than average. The cigarette case is hallmarked on the inside with Silver 950. This is a higher purity of silver than sterling silver. This piece was definitely made in Japan, either in the 1930s prior to World War II or just after World War II until the 1950s. The Japanese very often made 950 purity silver, and typically used these hallmarks. This piece was definitely made for the American or European market. The condition is excellent, just like the day it was made. The hinge is strong, and the case closes very tightly. The closure is perfect and all of the sides meet up precisely. The engraving is exceptionally sharp and crisp. The spring mechanism on the lid is in good condition. The spring tension mechanism on both of the internal bands which hold the cigarettes in place are strong and function perfectly. T are no dents, no dings, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs. The cigarette case measures 3 inches by 4 1/2 inches. The weight is 130 grams or 4.5 read more
