FANGIO, My Racing Life Publisher: Patrick Stephens Limited, England 1990, ISBN 1-85260-315-1, Translated by Michael Bayley. Hard cover with jacket, 6-1/4" x 9-1/2", signed by Juan Manuel Fangio October 8, 1992, at his office in Argentina, three years before his death in 1995 at the age of 84. The book is in very good condition; the dust jacket has a crease across the top front edge and also a little wrinkling at the bottom front edge. The Foreword was written by Stirling Moss; the book was edited by Denis Jenkinson. The dust jacket states, in part, "One of the most successful racing drivers of all time, Juan Manuel Fangio tells his story. Based on interviews between Fangio and Argentine journalist Roberto Carozzo recorded over a period of seven years, it is the story of a man who had already made a name for himself in his own country - Argentina - before he went on to stamp his outstanding skill on Europe in the 1950s by winning the world championship an unequalled five times. ... Fangio's childhood memories form the starting point for reminiscence, anecdote and insight. Racing soon became his life, but the book, as he puts it, is also intended to 'bring out the human side.' " Stirling Moss writes in his Foreword, "...Fangio was the greatest of them all ... he was always the man that one looked to, the man to set the bench mark. He was the one who could always go that little bit quicker, for that little bit longer. This book is a tribute to him and makes absorbing reading because it shows his philosophy, his love for driving and his incredible ethics. ... He didn't have an easy time getting to the top, but always managed to remember those who had helped him. He was, and is, a simple and humble man, but a man of enormous determination, pride and tenacity. It can truly be said that Juan Manuel Fangio, the man, is greater than the myth." Please visit another auction I have on Ebay at this time for a pewter-plated resin sculpture of the Streamliner W-196 Mercedes-Benz race car that Fangio raced to victory in 1954-55. The item number is 320323168107. Thanks!
