AMAZING Handmade Brass, Abalone and Copper Crab Box!
What can I say? You will love the wonderful artistry in this lovely hand-detailed item. The abalone is beautifully inlaid, contoured and form-fitted to this one-of-a-kind brass crab. Accurate sectioned legs, claws, the works! The top "shell" is completely removable and fully brass underneath. The points of the top shell fit neatly into specially formed copper end pieces so the top stays in place. This is a very large and rather heavy solid brass piece, measuring almost 16" long x 8" wide x 3-1/2" tall. All abalone is intact - no missing pieces. Brass is in lovely, unpolished condition with a very nice aged patina. NO dents or dings (the photos have reflections that may appear that way). Quite remarkable vintage condition. There are no signatures or marks of origin that I can see. It's possible that there is a mark of some kind under one leg, but I cannot make it out at all. A great addition for your maritime, seaside, aquatic, marine life, beach or shellfish collection! And a lovely decorative item for home, office or boat! Thanks for looking.
