a BLUE SPONGEWARE STONEWARE CROCK DESCRIPTION: From my personal collection of blue and white spongeware is a fantastic CROCK or BOWL . Not commonly found, this crock has fluted sides, a bail handle with a wooden grip, and a wide collar . The attractive and dense pattern of spongeware decoration covers the bottom, sides, collar and 1 1/2" on the interior. It is an exceptionally deep blue color . A less common and attractive piece of utilitarian spongeware. AGE : 1880 DIMENSIONS : Approximately 6" tall, 11/1/4" diameter at the top, 7 1/2" diameter at the bottom CONDITION: AS PICTURED , t are three 1/4" glaze skips/small chips-one the shoulder and two on the base, and two very faint and tight interior hairlines 2" and 3" in length .
