is a very interesting letter signed by the Vice President of the Traffic Division of United Airlines, Mr. Harold Crary, along with 19 photos 8" by 10" to a company called called Quadriga also located in Chicago, Illinois in 1940. " A quadriga (from the Latin language quadri-, four, and jungere, to yoke) is a four-horse chariot, raced in the Olympic Games and other sacred games, and represented in profile as the usual chariot of gods and heroes on Greek vases and bas-reliefs." The letter is about the advancements in equipment flown over the transcontinental airway by United from 1920-1940. I believe the first mail route was from Wahington state to Elko Nevada in 1910. United took over the route from Boeing, which was a division of United at the time.. The photos are a wide variety of planes, some interior shots, along with descriptions of each plane. It was suggested by Mr. Crary that they be used as an office display by the Quadriga Company. The photos and information are just super, and a one-of-a-kind collection.
