Father Christmas, in Red Robe, Toys hanging from Belt, bringing Christmas Tree.Smaller paper and silver Tinsel Christmas tree Ornament.I have finally gotten around to getting to some of our paper ornaments, which have not been used since 1990 in a Smithsonian Exhibit in Washington, D.C. These were used on a feather tree when I curated a display of artificial trees from the 1860s to 1990. They were packed away, and I just came across them. Since we do a real minimum of decorating (this year, not even a live tree due to my wife's knee surgery), I just cannot leave them in a box. Hopefully someone will carry these into the next generation as their care-takerRed coated Santa Claus, with an unusually long red robe, down to tips of brown boots.Wide fur trim.His cap is very different. Almost like a dome, of white fur.He has a tall walking stick to guide him, and keep him steady with his heavy toy load.If you look carefully, the tree is already trimmed.This is different, as usually it is just the tree which he will decorate later.Toys hanging from his belt, including dolls, toy boats, nut cracker, and more.He has the satchel at his side, with more presents.I would imagine all the names of the good little boys and girls are also in that satchel.Two silver tinsel loops.Red cellophane, really so unusual as it is intact after all these decades. read more
