THIS BADGE IS OBSOLETE, IS OF HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE AND IS WELL WITHIN EBAY POLICIES ON LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORABILIA. IT IS AN ORIGINAL BADGE THAT IS NO LONGER USED FROM A AGENCY NO LONGER AROUND! Badge is obsolete . Sold as a collectible only - no Police Authority inferred or implied. In complete compliance with Ebay policy on police memorabilia. Pursuant to Pub. L. No. 71-218, 46 Stat. 325 (1930), the Bureau of Prisons was established within the Department of Justice and charged with the "management and regulation of all Federal penal and correctional institutions." This responsibility covered the administration of the 11 Federal prisons in operation at the time. http://www.bop.gov/about/history.jsp This vintage badge is the first of my collection I am selling off. Any interested parties wanting a list of my prison related badges, send me an email at so I can list them. The badge is casted. T is no hallmark. The material seems be be a pewter type material. The only marking on the back is a patent # (2066969) for the pin and clasp. That patent was issued on January 5, 1937. This was an issued badge prior to the creation of the Bureau of Prisons. General duty wear. I dared not try to clean. Nice patina coverage. Will be selling my lock collection, badges, patches, documents, pins, keys, billys, cuffs, comealongs, ect....most everything
