This sofa is nearly identical to one pictured on page 254 of Albert Sacks' book THE NEW FINE POINTS OF FURNITURE: EARLY AMERICAN. T it is described as a masterpiece, classical mahogany sofa with carved lyre ends, attributed to Duncan Phyfe, New York, circa 1810-1820. I assume my sofa is from the 1920s to 1940, but I don't not know for sure. I bought it in Houston in 1999 w the antiques dealer said it had come from a New York estate. The upholstery is somewhat faded and with several small stains (but not really too bad), but the fabric is not torn. The left front leg was cracked or broken at some point and repaired. T are also some hairline separations or cracks along the top of the frame in the back. The sofa wobbles a little front to back, but that may be normal for this design. Local pickup is required. I am unable to transport the sofa. Buyer would have to make any arrangements for shipping including pickup and crating. Cash, money orders, and personal checks are accepted with a delay until check clears. No international sales.
