Up for auction is my beautiful Custom Gold Stratocaster. In short, this is a 2009 USA American Special which has been refinished, and customised with metalwork, pickup, pickup mod, and neck upgrades. The detail is as follows; USA body, 2009 American Special, professionally refinished in in a beautiful high gloss custom gold. USA metalwork, all upgraded to gold to match the finish of the body. Upgraded to Lace Sensor hum-free pickups, blue (neck - 12.8k), silver (middle - 7.1k), and red (bridge - 14.5k). The internal cavity and pickguard are fully copper shielded to ensure almost silent operation. Upgraded internal wiring mods. Volume is normal, but the first tone dial (whilst acting as a global tone control) also has a push/pull function which when 'in' means the 5 position selector functions as a normal Strat. When 'out', selector positions 1 and 2 are normal, but position 3 puts the bridge and middle pickups in series, giving a humbucking tone, and position 4 gives you all three pickups at the same time. Position 5 is normal. The third tone dial isn't a tone at all, but is modded as a 'blender' for the bridge and neck pickups. What this means is if you are in either of these positions, you can blend in the tone of the other (not possible at all with a normal Strat). It is great for fine tuning your ultimate tone - which is really what this guitar was created for - ultimate, and ultimately flexible tone. Upgraded Warmoth pickguard front and rear with reverse angled bridge pickup position to remove the high Fender 'twang' off that pickup. Upgraded flamed maple neck from Guitar Boutique in Belfast. This is a thicker, vintage profile neck with a vintage yellow/amber tint and high gloss finish. I hope the pics show the beautiful flame figuring on this neck. The action is superb, low, and fast, and is currently set up for 11's, but I presume you'll have this matched to your own preference as desired. You'll note from the pics that there is a Fender logo on the headstock. I deliberated over applying this for a while and I'm certainly not trying to hoodwink anyone, but whilst not being totally Fender (the neck isn't), this is very Fender in parts, so as long as you read this, you are clear on that point. What you do have here is an exceptional instrument, professionally put together at every stage, to both look beautiful, and function like no other. When you consider that the street price for a stock American Special is approx £750 anyway in the UK, you are getting all these additions and careful ipgrades for the same money - value indeed. So why (you ask) am I selling such a great intrument? Well, this is a vintage profile neck and modern Fender body, and I'm afraid my preference is for a vintage shape body and modern neck. I have a another couple of Strats with exactly the same tone elements and so I'm simply not playing it because it's not my 'favourite' if you know what I mean. It doesn't come with a case, but I can obtain a nice tweed one for less than £50 if you wish.
