I havedecided to sell my Japanese fender strat. This one was made at the fuji gen plant in Japan In the mid 80s on an "E " serial no, so it's approx 25 years old. It's a lovely guitar to play..... good, straight neck and low action. She sounds fantastic with deep bass and glassy highs. These guitars were made at a time when Fenders USA production was virtually nil as they were in the process of moving factories. It has been said that Fender themselves realised that the Japanese built guitars were superior to the US ones at that time. The only weakness being that some felt the pickups were'nt as good and consequently a lot had the pickups swapped over, as is the case with this one, having been fitted with passive EMGs in HSS configuration. As with most good guitars this one has been played a lot and picked up some battle scars along the way. There is fret wear but the guitar still plays well with a low action. There is a ding approx 5mm on the top horn and a few scratches. the rear trem cavity cover is missing. there is a cigarette burn on the head stock However the good bits out weigh the bad, ie this guitar is road worn the hard way and has developed character in both its sound and appearance. The Fender/kahler series 1 trem system is intact with locking nut & whammy bar and working fine which is quite rare. The EMG pickups would read more
