A spectacular Fenestrated Rondiceras Pyrite Ammonite. A spectacular completely PYRITIZED AMMONITE the likes of which I have never seen offered on Ebay.I bought these at the Tucson show 12 years ago and have had them stashed away all that time!These are exceptional Fenestrated Examples. A stunning addition to any serious collection. It is of Russian origin. It is an unusual specimen of Rondiceras PERIOD: Jurassic, Callovian 160 million years old The specimen is completely pyrite-replaced...presumably all calcite or other mineral crystalline structures eroded away to leave a fantastic pyrite skeleton...fenestrated ("like a seive")...the detail of the remaining pyrite structure is simply superb...simply stunning! Pictures don't do the fine detail of the specimen justice. The piece is 4.4 by 4.2 by 2.7 cm's in size. The specimen is from the Volga River , Mickhailov, Russia .
