This is a gorgeous piece of contemporary Fenton carnival glass in their Persian Medallion pattern. The bowl is signed on the bottom with the Fenton oval. The iridescence is very strong with a golden sheen & showing a rainbow of greens and pinks. T are no signs of wear to the iridescence. The bowl is in excellent condition also, no chips, cracks or fleabites. It measures between 7 1/2"- 8" wide at the rim and 2 3/4" tall. The base color is a very dark amethyst, whether or not they call it "black amethyst" or not, I am not sure. It definately looks black on the underneath side, but looking thru the top, you can see the purple shining thru. According to my Fenton book, Fenton reproduced this pattern in "Amethyst Carnival" around 1970 or 71. It may be that color, although I am not sure they were signing with the oval that early. Any info would be welcome. The exterior pattern appears to be Bearded Berry.
