Wow folks, I went to an auction yesterday w t were probably 500 collectible pieces of glassware and porcelain all still in their original boxes most new with price stickers and lots of duplicates of many different items. These are all authentic pieces, stored for years, most from the 1970's to early 80's. This is a gem. According to the tag that came with it, "This handsome paperweight is being introduced by Fenton for the Bicentennial of the United States of America (1776-1976). In 1975, it will be made on a limited basis in a "new-old" color re-created especially for the occasion, Patriot Red (anitque collectors call it Fenton Red Slag). After December 31, 1975, the Paper-weight will no longer be made in this color but will be produced in a special new color just for 1976. On December 31,1976, when the bicentennial takes its place in history, the mould for the Paper-weight will be destroyed, insuring its future as a collector's piece.". This is the entire quote from the hang tag. The paperweight measures 4" tall by 4" in diameter across the bottom of the base. The base has the Fenton Logo molded in the glass and also says on the under side, 1776 American Bicentennial 1976. The paper sticker on the base also is the Fenton sticker. T is no box for this piece.T is no damage whatsoever and these were done in a limited edition. If you
