A Little History of Burmese Glass: This particular type of glass was developed in 1885 by the Mt. Washington Glass Company. Queen Victoria named the glass "Burmese" because the beautiful blend of colors reminded her of a sunset in Burma . It is our good fortune that the Fenton Art Glass Company was able to successfully replicate that original Burmese style in 1970 and continues producing it for us to enjoy now! This item is a One Piece Fairy Lamp in excellent condition approximately 6 1/4" high and 6 1/2 " wide at the base. It has been beautifully handpainted with the Autumn Leaves design. Nicely done. Just found out that the design on this fairy lamp may be a transfer and not hand painted. If this was produced in the early seventies, Fenton Glass Co. at that time may have used used a transfer process for the design. Should not diminish the value according to the source.
