WELCOME TO MY AUCTION and THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY! MY AUCTIONS ALWAYS KICK OFF WITH VERY LOW STARTING PRICES AND NO RESERVES!!! SO ENJOY and I HOPE YOU RETURN AGAIN SOMETIME! Item Description: This is a beautiful, old and VERY SCARCE Fenton ~ CORAL ~ Collar Based Plate~ Plain Back~ in super and highly desirable, rich PUMPKIN colored Marigold Base Glass. It is 9 1/8 inches wide and 1 3/8 inches tall. The iridescence on this piece is truly outstanding to say the least. Stunning Multi-Color iridescent throughout the pattern and center as the pictures show...it is FANTASTIC! When on display in natural light...it puts on a First Class Show! I've only seen two of these in person and both have been super, but this one is better than the other one. Simply Killer color and the base glass is definitely a pumpkin color throughout. It will do the best collections proud. A far, far cry from your average color on this one. Please look over the photos and see for yourself. The piece is not marked. It is a fantastic example of this desirable and very scarce old pattern, shape and Base Glass Color. If you have been looking to add on of these fine pieces to your collection...you'll want to give serious consideration to this one. LOOKING FOR A COLOR UPGRADE? This one may suit your needs. Its an outstanding, solid investment quality piece of glass. I have included several photos of the piece so you can see for yourself. It looks even better in your hands as it is always very difficult to capture a piece like this on film and do it justice. You can reference this piece in David Doty's 1998 Field Guide to Carnival Glass or The Encyclopedia to Carnival Glass and Edwards and Carwile. I guarantee this is authentic, early 1900's vintage Carnival Glass! All my pictures are taken outside, always, in natural, indirect sunlight against a dark or light cloth...no artificial light is EVER used! I never enhance photos, if you like the colors you see...that is what you will get! I do not use reserves, never have, I believe auctions should be...well...auctions! So bid with confindence and have fun...LOW starting bid...it will sell to the high bidder. Item Condition: (Pictures are part of the description...and I include lots of them...so please have a look!) This piece is in SUPER nice condition ! No cracks or repairs. No major issues whatsoever. I can make out just a few very faint manufacturing stretch marks...only one very faint one in the center, the rest are confined to the back...very common to old glass. T is a manufacturing Straw Mark in the center of the plate....common in old glass. I can see just a couple of tiny pin-head sized manufacturing enclosed air bubbles...common in old glass and nothing uncommon The base is in excellent shape...shows very, very light shelf wear on the bottom of the base, nothing uncommon. The mold seams are barely t to the touch. Sits flat, level and solid. Overall excellent! The Edge Treatment on the piece is superbly done, round and even all the way around. Super shape. Loads of eye appeal ! T is one very small fleabite on the side of one point on the very edge, nearly impossible to find, I got the best picture of it I could to show you. (see pic). It is much easier felt than seen and even at that...good luck finding it. It is extremely minor. The Interior ...it is fantastic! Super Rich colors and mold strike. The interior is special and I can't make out any signs of it every being used for anything but display which is extrodinary! I can make out just a few tiny pin-head sized flecks of loss of iridescence (is what I call it) near the edge...sooo tiny most will need a good set of visual aids, and time, to see them. Simply put this is normal, very slight wear common to 100 year old pieces of glass and nothing uncommon The only other thing I can find to mention are a few very minor spots w the iridescence didn't take during manufacturing. They can only be seen when the piece is held and studied under a strong light. I'm being very, very picky...
