From a wonderful estate sale, I do not know exactly when this basket was produced but it is not an old one. It is marked Fenton in an oval on the base and is signed by the artist - and still has the Fenton basket tag attached to the handle. I am not absolutely sure that I have the color name correct, but I believe that it is a color they have made very little of called Topaz Opalescent. It is a light yellow color with an opalescent rim and a black/gray crest around the ruffled edge. It has some iridescence in it with carnival type colors and also fluoresces under black light like vaseline glass (it turns a bright green - about the color of the base in the inset of the last pic below). The footed basket measures 6 3/4" x 7 3/4" tall. The hand painted decoration is of flowers and a dragonfly. The only similar basket I can find in my books is called decorated Topaz Opal basket (it doesn't have the crest edge) and is considered rare and has a "book value" of 8 to 10 times my low listing price. Offered with no reserve, this is a gorgeous and unusual Fenton basket to add to a collection or to proudly display by itself!! ______________________________________________________________________ READ BEFORE BIDDING (I know its boring, but you really SHOULD) : NO CHECKS!! ****IF YOU ARE WITHIN THE USA, I WILL ACCEPT PAYPAL OR MONEY ORDER PAYMENTS read more
