This auction is for a rare French Opalescent Hobnail Cologne Bottle, made by the Fenton Art Glass Comapny in the late 1930's. This bottle has the original wooden stopper and the original Wrisleys Cologne Hang Tag. This bottle is pre-makers mark, but it is pictured in "The Big Book of Fenton Glass", by John Walk, on page # 82. Ebay sellers often offer similiar cologne bottles for auction. However, most of those offered are newer versions, which were machine made. These newer bottles often come with a milk glass stopper. Only the wooden stoppers were offered with the vintage cologne bottles. My Cologne bottle is the six seamed hand made version, vs the four seamed machine made bottle. According to author John Walk, "A representative of the Allen B. Wrisley saw fenton bottles, and asked that one be developed for their cologne. The bottle made for Wrisleys was the piece that ultimatley brought the Fenton Company out of the Depression. The Wrisleys bottle also started Fenton's long venture into the Hobnail patterns". Great, great vintage fenton cologne bottle. Vintage french opalescence...original wooden stopper....original Wrisleys Cologne Hang Tag. 60 - 70 years old....this bottle is in mint condition. The stopper is firmly in place, and I saw no reason to try to open it, but you can see that the cork is in the bottle. Nice, nice addition read more
