This GORGEOUS Fenton Basket is from the 2000 "GLASS LEGACY COLLECTION" The basket is a SIGNATURE PIECE....with the signature of 'BILL FENTON' himself. A Fenton family signature piece. This BEAUTIFUL basket has the 'GARDEN BERRIES' pattern and stands 10 and half inches tall from base to the top of the handle. This basket is MILK GLASS. The tall very elegant basket is created by gathering pure white MILK GLASS and covering i t with a layer of sparkling crystal prior to the glass blower blowing it into its hexagonal shape. The basket is a hexagon shape and very unusual. A molten ribbon of Aquamarine is spun around the top which the top edge is ruffled all the way around and trimmed in the same light aquamarine. The finisher who has blown the basket then gives the basket its gently fluted openings. The handler who attached the square of Aquamarine glass handle to one side of the basket...let it come thru one side of the top of the MILK GLASS w the handle is attached and may look like a small crack to some people but this is the way the handler did this one side. He didnâe(tm)t do the other side of the handle that way. This does not show unless the light catches it just right. You probably wouldnâe(tm)t even notice. The light aquamarine handle is a twisted ribbon pattern and Kim Plauche' designed the berries growing in a garden that seem to float over the surface of the basket. The slight shadow created by painting on crystal over an opaque glass gives the piece dimension. I will attempt to describe the painting on the basket. Gorgeous light violet roses with lighter shades of for-get-me nots with dots in the center are entwined with leaves large and small. Each leave is a different color. Among very light green leaves with light golden veins, are very light turquoise leaves with light golden veins and light golden accents. Light ribbons of golden entwine all the flowers all the way around the basket. The top is ruffled and fluted all the way around the top of he very, very light turquoise edging. On the bottom of the basket is engraved into the basket. "The Glass Legacy Collection." In Celebration of our 95th Year FENTON. Handpainted by Kim Plauche'. 95th silver anniversary sticker. "BILL FENTON" signature is on the bottom...a very special Fenton family piece. The glass handler who put the handle on was retired Frank O. Meyers. I just want you to be aware when he put the handle on one side the hot molten came thru the milk glass up by the handle and looks like a small crack from the outside. It isnâe(tm)t...it is just w the molten was too hot when he attached it. This basket comes complete with its BOX, and the paper that came with the basket telling all about the basket..how it was made...and the "GLASS LEGACY COLLECTION" Please donâe(tm)t miss out on this WONDERFUL signature piece basket. I am the original owner of all my Fenton...never displayed outside my curio. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks for looking!
