Wow!! 's one you don't see come through ebay all that often. This is a tough one for me to part with, but I have decided to do away with my complete Peach Crest line in my collection, and that means this basket goes too. This is the Peach Crest, BEADED MELON, 7" Basket, ware # 711. Fenton Glass produced this wonderful piece of art glass between 1949 - 1953. The peach crest pieces are quite common, but not always the Beaded Melon, 711 pieces. I admit that I haven't been surfing ebay as much as I used to, but I sure haven't seen one of these on ebay for several months. You can find a nice chapter on Peach Crest in John Walk's book "Big Book of Fenton Glass, 1940 - 1970", the 5'th edition on pages 65 - 71, with an example of this basket shown on Page 66 right at the top. The same chapter is in the 4 'th edition book as well, I'm just not sure of the page numbers. This basket is in great shape. I find no damage of any kind. T are no nicks, chips, cracks, fractures, repairs or discolorations. The handle is done with in an almost perfectly shaped Milk Glass band, and t are no flaws in the handle either, no heat checks or fractures. The classic handler mark can be seen at the bottom of one of the handle attachements and appears as an etched cross or star type pattern. These were done long before the handlers had the stamps they now use. This basket stands a total of 8" tall from the bottom to the top of the arched, white milk glass handle. The basket itself is just 4" tall from the bottom to w the handles attach. The piece is 6-1/2" long (end to end), and is 5" wide (side to side at the handle attachments). The bottom base is 2-1/4" across. The book value suggested by the author when the book was updated in 2005 was $100 - $125. Now, we sadly all know how the glass market is right now, but it's a great time for buyers, to be picking up some terrific deals on pieces like this that will quickly go back up in value when the market rebounds, as we all know it will someday. I have a higher than normal (for me) starting bid on this piece, but it's still very fair considering the market. Please take a look at the photo's, you will see this is a really nice example of this basket. The pink interior is very consistent and a nice deep pink. The white Milk Glass is bright and shiny, and then it's cased with clear glass and has the spun clear glass edge, resembling the Silver Crest pieces. They just don't get much better. I will be listing a few more Peach Crest pieces this week, so I hope you will check back with me. I had quite a few pieces of this line and will be selling them all off over the next few weeks. Lots to add to your collection, and help me thin down mine! I hope you'll continue to watch my auctions, as I'm continuing the thinning down of my Fenton collection that I started last year. I took short break to "regroup", and will be listing several nice pieces over the next few weeks, as I have plenty more that I've decided I'm going to part with, so I hope you will check back often with me. Feel free to bid on several items as well, I love to combine shipping for you, so long as everything can fit into the one box safely. I do ask tho, that for combining purposes, the auctions end no more than 7 days apart. Just let me know if you win something, and are still looking or waiting to bid on another item, and I can then revise the invoice for the combined shipping fees when you are finished. PLEASE be sure to view all of the photo's I have up for your use. If you have any questions or t is something that I have not covered in the description or photo's, PLEASE be sure ask all questions prior to bidding. Remember, t is no such thing as a silly question, and it sure can help save a misunderstanding after the sale closes. We do ask that all sales are final, so please do be sure you are confident in what you are bidding on. I"m no expert on many of the things I sell, and do rely HEAVILY on reference books for...
