is an extraordinary piece of Carnival Glass. It is the Fenton Peacock and Dahlia Amethyst Carnival glass bowl . This color is very rare and I was not able to find any value information in any book or web sight. It is the round bowl shape instead of fluted which is also scarce. The bowl is a scant 6.5" in diameter and just over 2" tall at the rim. T are no chips or cracks. The line you can see through the bottom is actually a straw mark on the inside of the bowl. T is a small dimple on the rim that occurred when the bowl was manufactured. The irridescence is evenly applied and flashes beautiful greens and reds. The underside is also irridized and has great color. The mold detail is sharp. T are several bubbles scattered through the glass.
Carnival Glass is made by fuming or spraying hot pressed glass with metallic oxides. This forms an irridescent coating on the surface of the glass that reflects the colors of the rainbow. It is similar to the effect of oil on a puddle of water. Photographs can't totally reproduce the effect of light hitting the glass. These photos were taken indoors with ceiling and window light. See my other auctions for more great Carnival Glass pieces. Please email with any questions. Note: I do not bill for insurance coverage. It is completely optional to the buyer. I do package very carefully and include delivery confirmation. However, once the item is given to the shipper, I can no longer be responsible for its arrival. Insurance, though not required, is recommended.
