Up for auction I have another fabulous Item made by the World Famous Fenton Art Glass Company of Williamstown West Virginia in 1942. This is a 9 inch #192a Diamond Optic jug. It is made out of Ruby Overlay glass, which is more commonly called CRANBERRY GLASS by Collectors. For those who don't know...this type of glass was made by Fenton using pure gold in the glass mixture to give it the color you see. When you hold it up to the light and look at the edges you'll notice the glass looks like it's 2 layers. Your eyes aren't fooling you because it is. They start out with a small blob of pure gold ruby glass called a bud and after putting a puff of air or 2 into it they put a layer of crystal over it before blowing the piece out into the moulds. This process is called overlaying or casing. The jug top has been crimped in a Jack in the Pulpit style and the handle has had a bamboo crimp applied to it. I have included a close-up of the handle, and optic below. With Fenton announcing it will be closing it's doors shortly, collectors are going to soon find out that it'll be harder and harder as time goes on to find the GENUINE older pieces of glass Made by Fenton.
