Up for auction is a stunning, rare Fenton "Chessie" Cat Candy Box (Ware #9480) from my personal collection. The color treatment used is called Teal Marigold, it is one of the most unusual Carnival glass treatments Fenton has ever produced. Teal Royale glass was covered with a Marigold Spray, which gives this piece its unique iridescent finish, very similar in coloration to some Favrene finishes I have seen (see pictures!). Unfortunately, this particular color was only produced for a short time from 1988-1989. This "Chessie" was produced in 1988, but was not part of Fenton's regular line. This piece was made for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad. This stunning candy box can be seen in Fenton Glass Compendium 1985-2001 , by John Walk, on page 35 and has a book value of $125-150!

In excellent condition, this piece measures approx. 8-1/2" tall to top of lid. "1988 'Chessie' by Fenton is embossed on the bottom.
