PREDATOR PREDATOR This is indeed a great rarity. If you prefer to take your chances with one of the el-cheapo versions available elsewhere in the far east (in all likelihood re-casts) then read no further. THIS is the genuine article.So who and what are the race known as 'Predators' or 'Yautja'. So far, we've gleaned the following intel: The creature known as the Predator is a bipedal humanoid creature standing approximately 2.5 metres tall, with the average weight of a male being between 250 and 350 pounds. Most of their bulk is pure muscle with & thanks due to their predatory lifestyle and diet, there is very little fat. Skin color is generally a pasty yellow or mottled with black spots, and their eye color is similarly yellow or green. On their head the Predator have what appears to be the equivalent of human hair, resembling long black dreadlocks. The Predator's bodyshape seem humanoid in general, but this cannot be said for its face - having been described as a face that only a mother could love, with "mutated crab" being equally uncomplimentary in appearance! However, the Predator has several unique facial features. The most prominent of these are four mandibles which protrude from, and surround, a smallish mouth filled with sharp teeth. These mandibles are used for communicating, much like a cat uses its tail to communicate its mood - although Predator also have a verbal language (consisting of growls, Biologically, Predators are much stronger and faster than an average human, and possess lightning quick reflexes and dexterity. Their blood is green with a phosphoresent quality which may have properties that protect them against the caustic effects of acid blood from their favorite prey ~ the Alien or Xenomorph, the killing of which is a rite of passage for a young Yautja. As far as sensory perceptions, it is believed that they are similar (but superior) to humans - and it is also a common practice for Predators to employ technology to further heighten their senses. It appears that whilst Predators prefer hot and humid conditions with an atmosphere rich in nitrogen ~ at a guess possibly due to existing conditions on their home planet ~ these remarkable creatures can also operate in arctic conditions with no need of any equivalent of the thermal clothing that humans have to use to stay alive. Released by Fewture Models years ago and sold out almost immediately , both versions of the 'Ancient Predator on the Alien Horse' statues are highly sought after. The detail is seriously impressive, having been created by master sculptor TAKAYUKI TAKEYA It was a few years back I think that Sideshow managed to get hold of a paltry few Fewture models to be sold under their name but otherwise the real GENUINE items are like gold dust. And this is one of them. When assembled, it measures an impressive 365mm / 14.3" in height. I have not removed any of the pieces from the box, only opening it up to take this photo:When you do assemble him, he's going to look like this ~ he's definitely not someone with whom to mess!Fewture themselves will not sell direct outside Japan ~ I know this because I applied for a couple of figures on their site & got a reply stating that it was not compnay policy to sell to international private buyers. It took Sideshow years before Fewture agreed to their request to supply a very low number of their figures to the USA. That fact makes items like this even more difficult to source. I ended up getting this by asking a friend in Japan to pre-order a couple on my behalf when this 2nd version was first hinted at by Fewture. I've now decided that it's time for this spare one to go to a good home. The main obvious difference between this & the 1st release is that he now comes armed with an enormous battle axe whereas the 1st version had a spear with an unfortunate victim on the end of it as shown below for interest only ~ it seems ... read more
