Fieldings Crown Devon Highland Cattle framed painted panel signed by G.Cox (believed to be George Cox). This superbly hand painted panel depicts highland cattle in a mountainous misty landscape with birds flying overhead. These panels were first introduced by Fieldings Crown Devon in the early 1920's and today they are highly sought after. Painters from that era were never able to paint the hooves of cattle, and like this example, the feet are well hidden in the undergrowth. The panel is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. T is some faint light crazing to the lighter part of the picture (top right quarter of picture) but this doesn't detract from this wonderful piece. The wooden frame isn't in too bad a condition but to appreciate the panel even more it would probably benefit from being re-framed. Dates to 1920 / early 1920's. Approximate measurements: Visible panel measures 125mm (4.9 inches) square. Frame measures 210mm (8.25 inches) square. Offered without a reserve and at a low start price this is a great opportunity to acquire a highly sought after piece of Crown Devon.
