A spiritual treasure, worthy of the treasury of a Cathedral: A filigree fire-gilt Altar (standing) reliquary with many fine details, an elegant masterpiece of the French goldsmiths of the 19th century, with enamel medaillons and colourful rhinestones. The reliquary is more than 10 inches in height and over and over decorated with the finest ornaments and flowers. Six cross-stars surround its center, the Holy Cross of Our Lord on top has a turquoise-coloured inlay. Limoges, ca. 1840. Inside, surrounded by red silk, in a sterling silver theca, placed on a golden star, surrounded by filigree gold thread decoration, is a significant relic of St. Philomena, Virgin Martyr The reliquary is sealed with the red wax seal of Bishop Joannes Costantini, Bishop of Melfi in the North of Italy. The reliquary comes with its ORIGINAL DOCUMENT, issued and signed on October 20, 1838 by Bishop Costantini, describing the relic as of "Sancta Filumenae Virginis et Martyris" and the theca as "silver, of oval shape, covered with crystal glass".
