It was once found in countless differentvariations in every moro tribe across the Philippines. Worn as a key part of everyday men's attire, the kris was a symbol of one's rank in society. The kris is a very well-balanced, double-edged weapon, which is generally wide at the base. Often, though not always, found with a wavy-blade. Description This particular kris sword has a wooden scabbard almost 20" long, held together by three silver bands, on the top, middle and bottom of the. Circular, moon-like designs are engraved in each of bands. The base of the scabbard is roughly 5.5". The hilt is 5" long, shaped like a cockatoo bird, with an easy-to-grip silver pommel. From the base of the blade, t is an engraving of a flame burning upwards.To make it a stunning decorative piece, the sword has been mounted in a frame on a white background.
